I am please asking for support to help grow Silverflamze and the business mission.

Silverflamze is dedicated to train young Australians the art of Silversmithing. Silversmiths are rare to find these days and Erica would dearly like to preserve the traditional trade of metalworking for the future generations.

Erica Golding is trained in jewellery production and has some experience with metal work. Erica had some very valuable training around 1998 originally through the teachings of the renowned Scottish Silversmith Alan Place. Alan Place has done many silversmith jobs for the late Queen Elizabeth of England. From exquisite solid silver repousse teapots and sets of sterling silver cutlery.

Erica also has done a Diploma in Visual Arts specialising in jewellery production at the Central Queensland University in Rockhampton around 2019 and she continues to do silver metal work from her workshop in Lammermoor Beach Yeppoon Queensland.

Erica Golding in the last 7 years has been training a Moroccan local at the Atlantic Ocean coastal town of Larache in Morocco’s north. Erica sought a traditional Moroccan that is knowledgeable to the history of Morocco. Erica has spent every day teaching Hicham the English language and today in 2023 Hicham has a large English vocabulary and his word pronunciation is perfect while taking into consideration is accent.

Erica needs Hicham to translate the difficult Moroccan Arabic language to be able to converse with the traditional Silversmiths to gain their precious knowledge and skills.

Hicham and Erica have been going to the local Moroccan second hand markets since and sourcing valuable antique jewellery and tableware. You can find several items listed at Silverflamze category Tableware and Decor also you can find some really rare Antique and Vintage Jewellery on the website.

The mission of Silverflamze is to hire the service of traditional Moroccan Silversmiths and bring them to Australia to train and give valuable skills to young Australians. We want to keep the rare and unique trade of Silversmithing work alive and also train young Australians to get the next generations creative input to design future heirlooms.

This is a genuine plight of Erica Golding’s to see that the rare craft of silversmithing does not fade away. We want to preserve these skills for the rarity and uniqueness of items that can be produced by hand using precious metals such as Silver, Gold, Brass and Copper.

I am asking today that you consider donating to Silverflamze and help us keep the Silversmithing trade alive and create a new generation of Australian Silversmiths.

You can donate with a one off payment though the Donate Button above or it can be a monthly or yearly donation.

“Everything can be fixed” is Hicham’s motto and coming from Morocco where they will still fix zippers in jackets rather than throwing the clothing away. Hicham for sure comes from a very fix it solution orientated country where handcraft skills are still flourishing.

Thank so much for your kind consideration!

Erica Golding

This is a really interesting idea. Like many traditional skills, I am sure that silversmithing is suffering against the onslaught of the modern world. Handcrafted objects are surely much more evocative than some mass-produced tat.

It’s great that you are seeking out craftspeople from a different culture from our flaky Western one where money seems to be everything but quality is often overlooked.

    Good luck in your mission!

      Hello Simon,

Thanks so much for the kind comments and encouragements in our plight for raising money to keep Silversmithing a skill into the future generations.

I did actually think of the talent from Morocco as they have a very humble attitude and they exceed in their craft being very conscious of their production and designs.  The traditional Moroccan Silversmith is exceptionally great at using the very basic of tools and equipment, right down to using an open wood fire, rather then gas.

The Moroccan people are steeped with passion, and utmost gratitude for pleasing their customers, they are loyal to the bone.

I believe in this project to help the concerning issues amongst the Australian youth for lack of motivation due to lacking of opportunities that really stimulate the mind, body and soul that traditional crafts do to an individual.

I totally appreciate the genuine wish for luck 🍀thanks!

      Kind regards

      Erica

Handy crafts like this cannot die, and now we are seeing fewer people moving in this direction as a career path. But I think that you could make a success of it if you create original pieces that are good quality because people will buy from you if this is the case. It is a difficult option as it takes time to build your reputation, but at least you are doing what you love.

All the best with your fundraising efforts and I hope you manage to get some more people trained up in the art of metal work.

      Hello Michel,

Thanks so much for the supporting comments I totally appreciate the kindness and esteem.  I really believe that crafts that are traditional are on the verge of extinction and that really concerns me not just as an artist Silvermsmith but it has so many other side effects from losing human handmade talents!

I appreciate the valuable hope from you, thanks heaps 🙂

      Kind regards

This is such a noble endeavor, Erica! Preserving the art of Silversmithing and bridging cultures through your partnership with Hicham is truly commendable. It’s inspiring to see your dedication to passing down traditional skills and fostering creativity in the younger generation. I’m curious, how do you envision the impact of Silverflamze expanding over the next few years?

Hello, thanks so much for your message of inspiration, I appreciate it.

For sure, bridging the cultures is important to me, as uniting the world in creativity is something special.  By cultivating harmony with diversity of talents and skills.

I do believe the younger generation will aspire to such a craft as silversmithing, because working with metal gives motivation of the mind.  As all crafts do!

I envision the growth of Silverflamze to be steadily expanding in the next few years. With new team members providing their talents to the expansion, we can expand our product range and services.

Once again thanks for taking the time to comment here.

      Kind regards

      Erica
